CHAMBER INFORMATION

The Bainbridge Chamber of Commerce had its origins in 1924, when it was initially created as the "Bainbridge Board of Trade" with the purpose of improving the quality of life in the citizens of Bainbridge and Decatur County as well as enhancing the well-being of the community.

In 1926, the Bainbridge Board of Trade was incorporated and became known officially as the "Chamber of Commerce for Bainbridge and Decatur County". The name was later slightly revised to the current name of "Bainbridge-Decatur County Chamber of Commerce".

Although the activities of the Chamber have changed with the times as new technology has appeared and as the business environment has evolved, the overall mission of the Chamber has remained the same. Promoting the health, well-being and quality of the community has, and always will be, the top priority of the Chamber. The official motto of the Bainbridge-Decatur County Chamber of Commerce, "Georgia at its Best" reflects the pride that we, as a community, have in the environment that we have been able to create and maintain.

The Bainbridge-Decatur County Chamber of Commerce is your door to an active, profitable role in the community. We look after your interests, represent you in government, express your opinions, and meet your needs.

We also perform the following roles:

• As a Chamber member, you join with other active, local members of the business and professional community to assure a healthy, growing economy.
• Through your Chamber membership, you have the opportunity to participate on a committee or task force in an area of interest to you.

Chamber Services:
The Chamber provides many valuable services to the community, many which are beneficial to the community as a whole, and not to member's only; however, membership has some very significant advantages. Listed below are services available to Bainbridge-Decatur County Chamber of Commerce members:

• Chamber Newsletter - The Chamber’s monthly newsletter is filled with information about its membership and activities. The subscription price is included in your membership dues.
• Clubs and Organizations List - The listing of the clubs and organizations in Bainbridge and Decatur County includes the contact person, address and telephone numbers.
• Manufacturers Directory & Economic Development Profile - A publication that includes in-depth information on Bainbridge-Decatur County industries and utilities, as well as transportation information, communication and educational systems.
• Chamber Breakfast - The Chamber of Commerce hosts monthly breakfast meetings to offer members and potential members an alternate way to conduct business and network with other Chamber members.
• Inquiry Assistance - The Chamber of Commerce serves as an information source for both telephone and written inquiries.
• Business After Hours - Like the chamber breakfast, the BAH allows members to meet with other professionals in a more relaxed atmosphere at no charge to you, the member, for attending.
• Mailing Labels - A computerized Chamber member mailing list is available to Chamber members for a nominal fee.
• Maps - A most current map of Bainbridge and Decatur County is available.
• Realtors List - A complete list of all Real Estate Agents who are members with addresses and phone numbers is available.
• Referral Services - The Chamber receives thousands of calls and letters each year wanting the name of a business or individuals that can provide a service for them. It is our policy to provide information for Chamber members only. Chamber members are also encouraged to place their brochures on the display rack in the Chamber lobby.
• Research Information - Various research manuals on the State of Georgia are housed in the Chamber office. Population, income, agricultural, and economic data are available in these publications.
• Ribbon Cuttings/Ground Breaking - The Chamber Staff can make arrangements for these ceremonies upon request. All services except the catering can be handled by the staff.
• Seminars - The chamber periodically sponsors seminars on topics of interest to its members.

What the Chamber is:

• A non-profit action-oriented members' organization for business and professional people and concerned individuals representing the best of Bainbridge and Decatur County.
• An organization carrying out its programs through the financial support of members, many of whom participate on numerous committees and task forces, and assisted by a full-time professional staff.
• An organization that answers many written inquiries annually from every state in the U.S.
• An organization that provides information and assistance to visitors and newcomers.
• The only area-wide volunteer organization working for the well-being of the entire Bainbridge and Decatur County community.
